Me and Joe are forgiven !

In exchange for surrendering his position on Environment and Public Works, Joe Lieberman got to remain in the Democratic caucus and stay on as chair of  Homeland Security / Governmental Affairs and head of the Armed Services / air and land power subcommittee.

Big props to netroots hero and "Countrywide VIP" Chris Dodd for negotiating the deal !

Actually, the whole caucus deserves a shout out - - they backed the deal 42-13 !  (Including all the newly elected change-agents.)

But, special thanks to our party leaders - - Obama (endorsed the deal !) and Biden (no show).

Let's review.

Lieberman stays.  Emanuel is in.  Gates (Bush's Gates!!!) likely to stay at Defense.  Holden (Clinton's AAG) in as AG.  Hillary to State.  And still radio silence on Prop 8 (although I assume Biden stands by his debate statement, "I agree with Sarah!")

I'm sure the pardon for my heresy is in the mail.

And tell me again how there's no space in the Democratic party for conservatives or swing voters?

You are not forgiven we are just all recognizing that stupidity is not yet a crime.

What I want to know is this; if you think like a republican, believe like a republican, and act like a republican what the hell are you doing in this party?

Hey guys? You know we won right? You can stop the doooooomsaying now.

Are you actually admiting that Lieberman did something that required forgiveness? Or implying the same about yourself?

Yawn (2.00 / 1)

For all of our anger at him and disagreements with him, Joe Lieberman is still a largely liberal United States Senator with 19 years of service in that august body of representatives who was fairly elected by the people of Connecticut and has a list of accomplishments that have had impact on the nation.

You, on the other hand, are a miserable tool.

Arggh.

"Joe and I are forgiven!"

Grammar is your friend.

That was bugging me, too (none / 0)

But I already called him a tool, so I wasn't sure there was much further point.

Actually..the Joe thing is the change he ran on... (2.00 / 2)

That is what he was preaching. It was the reason I didn't support him in the Caucus because I didn't think being adult and respectful would win (I am a recovering 2-time Edwards chair).

Well, he proved me wrong. And I find his lack of pettiness refreshing.

Joe is weakened and can't do much right now. His only hope is to try and win back the hearts of his constituents back home. His state is a very blue state and will not accept him if he is a problem for Obama.

And for those claiming he is leveraging for Repug positions. Think:

1. It got him nothing this time.

  1. The only way Repugs in the party would have accepted him was if he had to pay some sort of price to the Dems so he could be seen as a political victim (that option is gone).
  2. Moderate Repugs have no power in their party, why would he?
