Palin Supporter Shouts "Uppity Negro"

The more details of yesterday's Sarah Palin's rally in Florida come out, the uglier it gets. Talking Points Memo spoke to a reporter who was at the scene to witness the infamous exchange between the riled up Palin supporter and an African American sound man. It isn't pretty.

As I noted below, in his piece today about the abuse that Palin supporters heaped on reporters at a Florida rally yesterday, WaPo's Dana Milbank wrote that one supporter had hurled an unspecified racial epithet at an African American sound man before saying, "sit down, boy."

A reporter who was there tells me what that unspecified epithet was: "Uppity negro."

The more I think about it, the less a coincendence it becomes that she wore white to the event. She realizes that she is becoming a symbol for both the Religious Right and the worst elecments of neo-facism in America. And if you want to challenge me on ther latter point, take a good hard look at what the Alasks Indepence Party stands for. It may not be enough to put her and McCain over the top, but she will be around for years to come. And as she learns the ropes of national politics, she can simultaneously consolidate her standing with these groups while sporting that "Aww shucks" grin. After all, even David Duke took off his robe and put on a suit.

Oh, that's not poor Sarah Palin's fault... (2.00 / 2)

She's not responsible for a few "off the cuff" remarks her followers make.
They're good people, salt of the earth.
Hard working folk. REAL Americans.

That's what the media will probably say.

Or, simply shrug, and move on to the big story.

Got to get extra coverage on the charge Obama is a terrorist?

"Anything to that, Wolf? Is it getting any traction, effecting the polls yet?"

Now, think of the OUTRAGE Kayne West received, for saying George Bush doesn't care
about black people.

Think of the blasting Obama took for the word Bitter.

A pox on all their houses...

Glad I wasn't working that event.

Republicans have always played this game (2.00 / 1)

Since Nixon, they've fostered the worst in racial instincts of people while maintaining plausable deniability.

Strom Thurmond is still revered in some circles.

McCain/Palin are Insane (2.00 / 1)

I heard on the Thom Hartman show this morning that there have been reports of people chanting "Kill! Kill! Kill!" at some of Palin's rallies. Who do you think they want to kill? Hint: It isn't Palin or McCain. What's worse is no one in the McCain/Palin camp are doing anything to put a stop to this craziness. In fact, they are fanning the flames, something I believe is probably against the law....supporting the idea of the death or injury of a Presidential candidate.

Re: McCain/Palin are Insane (none / 0)

They should have bounced them out. I guess they were worried about offending voters.

Re: McCain/Palin are Insane (2.00 / 0)

The only way for them to win the election is to get every wacko out form under their ricks and to the polls.

I think the followers are probably boderline... (2.00 / 0)

But, I don't excuse Palin or McCain for this with an insanity plea.

Palin is not insane, she is just clueless, this is a game for her. She has no idea what can come of fommenting this hate in her followers.

McCain has lost what every ethical compass or bearings he ever had, he now is so obsessed with the WH, he has become the image of the Rovian creeps that slimed him in South Carolina in 2000.

boderline... (2.00 / 0)

Yes she does. Her husband was a member of the supremacist Alaska Independence Party.

Been to lots of tradeshows where the spokesmodels put her to shame...

Mediocre at best IMO, she'd rate a b-level booth imo.

Re: Palin Supporter Shouts.. (none / 0)

Palin is cooked.  Wait till she's booted out of the Alaska governor's mansion in their next election.

Maybe she can get a job with the Alaskan Chamber of Commerce promoting wolf hunts?

I have family members that were lynched down south so this deeply affects me  but I forgive Palin because she is in way over her head and she does not know what she is doing ...and I don't think she is racist .....just clueles

"Uppity Negro" (none / 0)

Are you sure he didn't say something else starting with "N"? I haven't heard the term "Negro" used since the 1960's when it was a polite term. The other word is older than the country, as current as today, and never is a polite term.

I wonder if the Secret Service details rotate among candidates.  Just sayin'.

Please.  When we make ridiculous charges it makes it too easy for people to reject the more credible charges.
